St Helens Bio-Link / Pest Control Project

The St Helens Bio-link/Fox Program commenced in 2011 around a population of Federally Listed Southern Brown Bandicoots located in the St Helens Flora Reserve (Parks Victoria 32ha).  This population had not been confirmed in the 8 years prior.

Working with The St Helens Landcare Group, Moyne Shire Council, Trust for Nature, three Blue Gum Plantation management companies, Pacific Hydro, and numerous other individual and organisational stakeholders – we have achieved a continuous fox control and fauna monitoring program within 5km radius of the Reserve.

Our aim is to rebuild vegetation links between the Reserve and the catchments of The Shaw and Moyne Rivers by encouraging and supporting land managers to plant more natives for shade and shelter; control foxes and feral cats; and protect existing remnants on their land.
